that he did not want me living there. I used to stay in the development right next to the President of the Board, and I found another unit to rent, because the one I ws living in was in foreclosure. I did all what was required of me to comply with the Association, but the Association said it is up to the President. Is that leagl?
The answer to your question depends on the powers granted to the board under the declaration of condominium and the rules and regulations governing the condominium. If the board turned you down because of your race, your religion, or some other improper reason, you have a legal basis for your objection. Otherwise, probably not. If you think that you have been treated unfairly, you should hire an experienced real estate lawyer in your area to represent you.

First, it depends on if you are attempting to rent in a condo association or a homeowners association. The courts generally do not uphold rent restrictions in HOAs unless the original declaration of covenants include them. Condos are different.
Even if the Association is authorized to enforce rent restrictions, i.e., require their approval, the Board of Directors are required to act reasonably. They must have a basis for their decision, like something in a background check. The Board of Directors is collectively responsible for the decision and not any one board member.
If you feel you are being unjustly denied the right to rent, you can file a complaint with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for discrimination (if it's based on race, color, creed, sex, national origin or religion), but I would think you're just better off finding another place to live. Even if you could force them to rent to you, would you really want to? If they're trouble now, just think what they will be like when they have authority to tell you how to live. They will make you miserable.
