Hi, ive caught shoplifting from whole foods and they billed me for damaged goods. They wrote down my home address and said there will be bill to pay for 60$ damgaged goods. Its been a year since then and i havent received their mail (there is chance that i couldve been lost from my mailbox). Can you tell how this could haunt me? thanks

It sounds like you probably got off lucky. If you are really concerned, you can call the court or the district attorney's office in the county where that Whole Foods is located and make sure there are no warrants out for your arrest.

The stupidest advice an attorney can give is to tell you to call the DA to check on the status of your case. Such calls only refocus attention on what may have slipped through the cracks. Don't call, keep your mouth shut and wait. Remember that 99% of the people in jail or prison talked their way in.

I dont suspect this would come back to haunt you in any way. If you havent heard anything until now you probably won't.
