As a child, I was the victim of abuse from my father. Other people in my family were victims also. I am now not scared to stand up for myself and I am hoping not to much time has passed.

I do not practice in Maryland, but a search for time limitations Maryland child molestation produced an article from the National Center for Victims of Crime called "Extensions of the Criminal & Civil Statutes of Limitations in Child Sexual Abuse Cases", which I linked below. I read it as saying that MD does not have limitations on state prosecutors filing criminal charges for sexual abuse of minors but that for a civil suit for money damages the regular MD personal injury statute of limitations applies. I didn't look up MD specifically on that issue but most states have somewhere between 1 and 5 year statutes of limitations for tort actions. Most states put the statute of limitations on hold while the potential plaintiff is a minor. So, actions must usually be brought within that many years of you becoming an adult.
