If you are 30 years old or younger, graduated from high school (or have a GED or are pursuing one) and do not have serious criminal convictions, you may be eligible for the "Deferred Action" announced on June 15, 2012. Right now there is no process for people to apply, unless they are already in detention or deportation proceedings. The immigration service will announce a process for everybody else around August 15, 2012. If you qualify for deferred action, you will likely be able to obtain a work permit that will be good for two years. Once the new application process is announced, you should consult an attorney to see if you are eligible and to see what other immigration programs you might be eligible for.
