How to proceed with a wrong police report that made an accident comp. not my fault 100% my fault?

I have been involved in a car accident where another individual was in the process of making an illegal u turn in the middle of road I was traveling on and as a result hit my passenger side. I made the mistake of moving the vehicle to clear traffic up. When the officer arrived, I explained to him that I had moved the vehicle and told him the direction I was traveling in. After picking the police report up, the officer stated that I had made the illegal u-turn and hit Vehicle 2 (stories switched around). However, the damage done to my vehicle and the damage to vehicle 2 does not coincide with the police report (that if the police officers description were to be put to the test, my car would have not been hit the way it was hit etc.). How do I proceed with this? I am extremely frustrated!

Were you cited? If so, sit down with an experienced traffic accident attorney so that he or she can halp you tell your side of the story at a hearing. Make sure you report the collision to your insurance company. if you get sued for property damage or even personal injury damages, your insurance company must provide you with a defense attorney that will help you tell your side of the story. Best of luck to you!

The police report is not dispositive of fault. If you were injured, you should retain an attorney to argue for your position.

The police bungle reports all the time, yet the rarely change them. However, it will not prevent a good car accident lawyer from getting you the money that you are entitled to. Our office only handles cases that involve serious injuries however. The answer does not create an attorney-client relationship and is for informational purposes only. Although police reports can helpful to determine what really happened, they are not admissible as evidence in court (with some exceptions). So they are not the final word on who was at fault etc. You could ask the police to amend it, or file an amendment yourself. Hire an attorney and he/she should be able to take care of that for you. The damage to the cars will be able to tell who was hit going which direction, etc.
