My ex-boyfriend is holding my mail and refusing to give it to me. What are my options?

We have recently broken up under abusive circumstances and I moved out. The mail he is holding include my student loan check and a replacement ID. I moved several miles away and had asked a mutual friend to pick up the mail for me and he is refusing to return her calls and txt messages.
