If you know enough to think about bringing a RICO claim you should know enough to hire someone to do it for you. Same answer if you are defending. 2 second Google search revealed this link: https://litigation-essentials.lexisnexis.com/webcd/app?action=DocumentDisplay&crawlid=1&doctype=cite&docid=1-11+MB+Practice+Guide%3A+CA+Unfair+Comp+%26+Bus+Torts+11.syn&srctype=smi&srcid=5F3D&key=3852740af253050e8c8d5b8f6d5d1758

RICO is a federal statutory scheme. In California, there are several statutes that can allow a litigant to go after an unlawful scheme, such as the Unfair Competition Law (B&P section 17200 et seq.), and other statutory schemes related to specific industries. This is an extremely complicated area of law and only a handful of attorneys are very competent at it. It would be quite foolish to think you could do this on your own. There are far too many pitfalls for you to step into along the way. Good luck to you.
