My guilty Obstruction misdemeanor can't be expunged I'm told. So will this stay with me forever, how to clear my record for work

Will I always have a criminal record for my 1st and only criminal misdemeanor charge? Please tell me a simple $100 fine will not harm my life forever from obtaining proper career worthy employment and always show me to have a criminal record when individuals do background checks on me?
I wouldn't worry too much about a non-theft misdemeanor. It will show on your record and it can't be expunged, but a disorderly conduct/obstruction probably isn't the be all end all of your career.
I don't know when you took a plea on this case, but hopefully your attorney discussed the 1st offender act with you. Most people don't use it on misdemeanors because once you use it you can never use it again (and it's better saved for a felony). But if you took a plea under the 1st offender provisions then it would not be a conviction and would not show a conviction on your record.
You are correct that a conviction can not be expunged in Georgia. Depending on what job you possibly apply for, that charge may prevent you from being hired, esp. if it had to do with dishonesty (e.g., theft, forgery, perjury, etc.). However, you are probably fine re: most jobs, at least as long as you are honest on job applications, and provide any supporting documentation that may be requested. Good luck.
This conviction will indeed be on your record forever, but it is not the kind of conviction that will stop you from being hired for most jobs. I know lawyers who have misdemeanors on their records but have gone on to have exemplary careers. The key is to reveal the conviction when asked and to have a ready response to a potential questions. Good luck.
