Do I get a copy of my deposition transcripts?

Bankruptcy and Debt 5 views 1 answers
I took a deposition recently. The attorney (of the opposing party) who ordered me to take the deposition will not provide me with a copy of the deposition transcripts to review. The court reporter says that the attorney won't pay for the transcripts, so, I can't be given a copy of the transcripts - but I can come and review the deposition transcripts at any time. I thought that I was supposed to get a copy from the deposition transcripts - not be forced to drive to some court reporter's office to review the transcripts. Don't I have a right to get a copy of the transcripts for me to review within the allotted time (thirty days)? Thanks,

Maybe I misunderstand your question, but I don't think you "took" a deposition; I think you were required to sit for and give your deposition testimony under oath in response to questions by the opposing party's attorney. Although you have a right to review your deposition testimony in the court reporter's office, the opposing attorney does not have to pay the court reporter to send you a copy. If you don't want to travel to the court reporter's office, I'm sure the court reporter will be happy to send you a copy, provided you pay for the copy, in advance.
