Depends, if the tax returns are for prior tax years, it can take several weeks to several months before the account is updated with the current information.
The IRS is geared up to accept 2012 tax returns, as such, tax returns for prior years are low priority. I have seen prior year tax returns take up to 3 months to post.
Depends what you mean by right away. It usually takes at least several weeks for any return to be processed in a straightforward situation. For mortgage approval, typically they cannot require a tax return or balance prior to the due date of the tax return so 2012 taxes are out until April 15, or October 15 if on extension.
I agree with the other answers given. Remember that you are dealing with the government and they normally never do anything immediately. It normally takes a month or more before the current return actually processes and the account transcript is available. If it is an older year (2011 & past) then it normally takes 9 weeks or more for the return to process and any information to make it to an account transcript.
No. Until the returns are "processed" they do not show in the transcript system. This can take 6 weeks for new returns, 8-12 weeks for old returns, and up to 6 months for returns for which the IRS has already filed Substitute for Returns on your behalf. For the latter, you will continue to see "their" numbers until the return has been processed by IRS Audits.
