Typically a condition of probation is that you notify your officer if you are leaving. I cannot emphasize how much I do not recommend you leave without obtaining a travel pass from your probation officer. You could find yourself with a warrant and subject yourself to jail time when it could be avoided by simply notifying your officer of your travel intentions. This is all assuming you are on misdemeanor probation. If you are on felony probation the stakes are even higher, and you could be subject to State prison. It's just not worth it!

I recomend that you simply ask the PO. If they come to check on you and you are not there or they violate you, what then. In this case it is better to just ask. If the PO says no, then go ask your Judge. Judges will usually let you go for a good reason.

Don't do it. POs have a way of finding out about these trips and you could easily land in jail. If it's something important hire a lawyer and get the judge to approve the trip, if the PO wont.

I agree with all of the other lawyers, but I do have one thing to add. I was recently retained by someone who was violated for going on a three day Bahamas cruise with his family. When the ship came back to Florida, homeland security ran checks on all of the passengers, then notified probation just in case he didn't have permission. He was arrested a few days later. Get permission before you go

Don't chance it! I could go on for hours with stories about VOPs and mistakes people have made. Its just not worth it.
