ACL Surgery with skin burn

Business 3 views 3 answers
I had an ACL surgery back on April, 18 my knee looks great with no visible scars. But somehow they burned my skin on my lower leg, when asked the surgeon he could not give any explanations on how it happened. He said that after the surgery the notice a blister on my leg but could not tell what caused the blister. I'm seeing a plastic surgeon now that is treating the burn, most likely i will get a scar on my leg that is 5" x 1" in size. Can I sue the Doctor or the surgical center for this?

Yes, you can. Most likely the burn was caused by an poorly grounded instrument causing an electric current to burn your skin. How strong a case it is depends on the law of your state and the specific evidence your lawyer can find.

If the facts as you report them are correct, obviously something happened that could or should constitute malpractice. However, unless you have some real disfigurement or other significant injury, you might have difficulty getting an attorney to handle this case. Get the records and consult a local medical malpractice attorney as soon as possible.
