What can I do when I was in a not at fault accident and I am at fault in the police report.

I was side swiped in an accident in 2009 in Chadron Ne. The ladies insurance paid for the damages to my vehicle and for my daughters injuries. I told the police standing there that on their report it says that I was at fault, he told me it will change at the police station. But when I try to get car insurance it keeps coming up as me being at fault? Am I missing something here, I get charged higher quotes.

You have now waited for 4 years to correct a mistake that could have been taken care of 4 years ago. I would contact your state motor vehicle agency and set up an appointment with them to talk to them about this. Remember to take all papers that you have from the ladies insurance that paid for the damages to your vehicle and for your daughters injuries. If this does not work, you will need to seek an attorney there in your local area to help you sort out this issue. Good luck.

You will need to work with the authorities now, but after 4 years, you may find it quite difficult. Good luck.

If fully explained to an insurance agent & shown the written proof of settlement etc it should not even be an issue - any good insurance agent & underwriting department knows that often police reports are incorrect & that claims departments do their own investigation & liability determination. This is one reason that police reports are generally not accepted in evidence & the officer has to testify in person.
