Any liens should have been negotiated before the settlement was finalized, when there was leverage. If it is a Medicare lien, they do not have to reduce it at all and depending on the amount of the settlement and the lien you could be left with nothing. Did you have an attorney?

Let the attorney who represented you finish his or her work. I assume your attorney got paid. It is your counsels job to complete the work he/she started, including dealing with the lien.
