I don't know about NJ but I do not believe that the State of FL prohibits backed-in parking (that is to say that I do not believe that there is a State Statute prohibiting the same); however, I know for certain that many municipalities in FL have municipal ordinances which require that you park face in unless otherwise posted (the theory being that in Florida, license plates are only required on the back end of cars, and not the front end so, as such, back-in parking is generally not allowed for safety and operational efficiency reasons). Call (201) 348-5836 - that's the Union City, NJ Parking Authority's phone number. I'm betting that they'll let you know.

Also in addition to counsel's comments, please be on the lookout for any other reasons you may have been cited for illegal parking.
