I was unemployed back in 2007-2008 and when I contacted the company regarding my unemployment to see what I could do for I had taken out that special insurance that was suppose to help if you became unemployed. Back then they told me I would have to be late 6 months before I could claim it. the last payment I made to the card company was Aug. 2008 when I contacted them again in 2009 they told me my account had been sold. That is the last time I have had anything regarding my debt up until today. I was living in Texas when my account was opened and when I made the last payment I became a resident of Missouri in 2009, it was in April of 2009 that MidLand Funding bought my debt. Based on Texas statutes the limitation has expired but Missouri it is still viable until next year. Need advice?

The circumstances you describe do not permit a substantive answer but you need legal advice from an attorney and before the answer date on the papers served on you. Even if you don't owe the debt, you can't ignore the summons without legal consequences.

Might depend whether the credit card agreement had a choice of law clause identifying which state's law apply. It might be the law of some state you hadn't contemplated. As my peer said, show up in court.

Go to court and best course is to get an attorney to review the credit card agreement.
