How to avoid false injury claims in minor car bumps?
Anonymous5 views4 answers
I had a minor car accident yesterday, I bumped into a car in front of me. The guy in front of me was driving old GMC vehicle. There was very little damage to his rear bumper. Initially he was ok and said he is not worried about the damage, then he called up somebody and then asked me to provide my insurance number and right on a paper that I'm not going to inform police or insurance. He started banging the rear door himself and said that he has some issue in his back as I hit him hard. Looking at his behavior I called up the police. The police assessed the situation, they didn't issued me any ticket. Also, when police asked this guy if needed an ambulance he denied. I also informed my insurer about the incident. Now I'm worried this guy may claim for false injury. How can I avoid this?
There is really nothing you can do to prevent the other driver from making a claim. Calling the police and your insurance company was exactly what you should have done. Based on what you told your insurance company, you can be assured that they will aggressiveley defend any claim brought by the other driver..
You did the right thing by calling both the police and your insurance carrier. If he makes any claim, believe me your insurance company will investigate it thoroughly and make any settlement offers they feel the facts/records support. Don’t worry, that is why you have insurance.
Good luck.
