Currently there are several I-130 cases taking 9 months. For now you should continue waiting. If it takes longer, you should contact USCIS or hire an attorney.

On average, it may take anywhere between 6 to 9 months to adjudicate the case, so I would advise to wait until after 9 months, and then call USCIS at the phone number provided on your receipt letter, and create a Service Request. This will prompt USCIS to look into your case.

Your Wife should get an Info Pass Appointment at your local USCIS Office and inquire about the status of the I-130. If you had prior applications with USCIS, it takes longer for applications to be adjudicated. You should also seek the assistance of an attorney. Unless you have obstacles to adjustment of status, you may have been able to file a concurrent I-130/adjustment of status application and be enjoying the benefits of a work permit, drivers license, and social security card while USCIS is adjudicating your applications. Consult an immigration attorney.
