I am really not sure what you are describing here. I mean, it is pretty easy to alter the "from" line of an email so it looks like it was coming from someone else. In fact, I get emails at least once a week that appear to come from my domain (e.g., [email protected]). What is unclear is how the law firm ties in with this. Are you saying that it was a fake firm designed to trap you in a marketing pool? Or that the firm did something unlawful? I suggest that you consult with a lawyer in private if you have concerns here. You can start by calling around to several for a free phone consultation, get some insights then pick the best fit to work with. Best regards, Frank Natoli-Lapin, LLC

It sounds like you accessed a URL that lead to a spam script. Whether a law firm (was it a legit firm?) was responsible or not is something that would take an investigator to figure out.

If it was a law firm, why not file a grievance with the State Bar of Texas which investigates both Attorney ethical or legal misconduct as well as unlicensed person (who don't hold a Texas law license) that pretend to be "lawyers" dealing with Texas residents... send them all in grievances to the State Bar of Texas which regulates real lawyers. Here is the link to check if the people offering you " legal advice" are licensed in Texas(click the find a lawyer spot above the red box in the upper right side): http://www.texasbar.com/am/template.cfm?section=home Here is a link to file the complaints: http://cdc.texasbar.com/cdc/Home/Index Good luck!. It sounds like a collection company scam, but needs to be reported along with any person pretending to be Texas lawyers giving advice without a license to protect the public. Thanks
