Consular immigrant visa interview

Business 7 views 4 answers
My wife had consular processing interview at US Consulate, Mumbai for Immigrant visa. I am a LPR living in Texas. The officer said her visa was approved and gave the immigrant visa fee letter, with Alien Number on it. but as my wife was leaving, the officer said she would get the visa stamped on it after my wife submits professional work information, resume, and research experience. Officer did say that there was nothing to worry and they just need it for their records. That my wife would here from them soon and that this wouldn't affect the approved visa...just that would take few weeks to get it stamped. (my wife has a pharmaceutical background and has done some research, but her current job is that of a pharmacist)...the document says 2 weeks time, whats your experience?

The consulate is a very unfriendly place to lawyers. It is almost impossible to have meaningful contact with the consular officers as an attorney. My advice would be to comply with the consular officer's requests. It does not sound like your wife will have any problem getting her visa, based on your statements, though. If there is an unreasonable delay, definitely consult with an immigration attorney.

I believe you asked this question before and received quite a few responses. Get an immigration attorney officially involved if you'd like to take action.
