Do you attend traffic school for a carpool lane violation

I got a ticket for driving in the carpool lane alone in Orange County. When the police officer issued the ticket he said it was not a moving violation and I would not incur a point on my driving record, it would simply be a fine that would need to be paid. My ticket came in the mail and offered a set bail amount to pay as well as a traffic school amount to pay? Do i have to go to traffic school for this ticket?

You are not eligible for traffic school for this type of violation. You just must pay the fine or take it to trial. Good luck.

There are 2 Different Carpool Ln. violation. One involves driving without the right number of people in the lane. That is not a moving violation and is not a point on your record. The other is crossing over the double yellow line to enter the carpool lane. That one is a moving violation and is a point on your record. Obviously, going to traffic school on a nonmoving, nonpoint violation would be a waste of time and money. If you were eligible to attend traffic school on the moving violation, you have to post the entire bail amount plus $54 for the traffic school fee.
