Can you sue a funeral home or crematory for telling personal information about the dead loved one?

After meeting with the funeral home over my fathers death to arrange cremation I clearly stated that due to the nature of his family and all the issues, they were not to release any personal information about my father to anyone other then myself.I even made them make a note of it on his file. Today i learn that a family member called there and they begin telling infomation about him that caused the whole family to begin fighting, the funeral home hung up on my husband when he called to speak to them,he told them who he was, then the director called me back stating they were no longer willing cremate my father or transport him due to his family calling there many times behaving ignorant. I have been through such a great deal of emotional hurt over this whole disaster. What can do and how?

Not that I know of. But, you could complain to management. Perhaps it would make sense to report to the Better Business Bureau. Good luck.

I am sorry that you and your family are having to go through this, I would suggest that you report them to the Better Business Bureau. It is hard enough having to deal with the death of a loved one, but to have the added stress of what you are having to go through on top of it is unimaginable. As far as a lawsuit, you are probably out of luck.
