Who is responsible for dishwasher and garbage disposal clogs? The tenant or landlord?

The dishwasher and garbage disposal are brand new so I only think that the tenants must have clogged them from food items or liquids that cause either or both to clog.

Depends on the contract terms. If not detailed in contract, probably the tenents responsibility but be honest....are they going to pay to fix it and if they try to fix it themselves, don't you think they will just break it?

If the property is residential property (as opposed to commercial) and is in Shelby County which is where I see you are from, it is subject to the Uniform Residential Landlord & Tenant Act. The Act provides that "the landlord shall make all repairs and do whatever is necessary to put and keep the premises in a fit and habitable condition." However, the Act also states that the "landlord and tenant may agree in writing that the tenant perform specified repairs, maintenance tasks, ...." So, I concur with the prior answer, the responsibility of such maintenance is dependent on how, or if, it is addressed in the lease.
