I got pulled over doing 36 in a 25 school zone should i use a prayer for justice, or see if it can be reduced?

I was exiting the zone and prematurely speed up to the posted speed of 35 as i saw the speed sign, when the officer clocked me going 36. I thought I was outside the zone hence my acceleration past the speed limit, but it seems I may have been just inside the zone. This is my first offense and I am considering using my prayer for justice.

Depending on the jurisdiction and how they handle these tickets, you may not need to burn a PJC in handling this ticket, especially if you have an otherwise clean record. You should consult an attorney to see if he can get it reduced to something that won't affect your insurance and your driving record without using the PJC.

I highly recommend you get a lawyer - there are additional fines and fees that come from the school zone. While you are asking about a PJC - that is a decision made by the judge and it is not an automatic option. A lawyer will allow you to explore all your options and will address what best fits your situation. In addition, a lawyer will know the system better than you including who to speak to, and what the likely outcome would be.

In Wake County, school zone tickets are treated harshly. It helps that you were only going 11 over. Try to have it reduced and removed from the school zone first. An DA may reduce it to 9 over and remove it from the school zone. Worst case scenario is that the judge will ask you to preform some community service for a PJC.
