Background Employment based 485 pending for 2 years . How long can I be unemployed and be in status?

Q1. If I lose my job today, how long can I be unemployed without being considered Out of Status by US immigration? Q2. Can I go back on the H1 after 3 months if I find another employer who will transfer/file for my H1 (I am on the 9th year of my H1 now - 2nd extension) or AC-21 portability and working on EAD is the only option I will have at that time? Q3. If I leave the US now, can I switch to Consular Processing with a valid job offer and get my GC when I am out of the country? Q4. My wife runs a startup with a partner and it is venture funded. Can I be employed by them as I qualify for one of their positions. She is a dependent on my EAD/I-485.
