How to plead "no contest" Illinois traffic accident ticket?

6 views 3 answers
I received a traffic accident ticket, with no one injured. But, I am afraid that the other party would sue me for any additional damage later. However, there is no option to plead "no contest" on the ticket. On the front it says, "Without admitting guilt, I promise to comply with the terms of this citation and release." On the back is says (A)"for all ages, to plead guilty, pay $120..." (B) "If you are 18 year or older, to avoid conviction on your driving record, plead guilty, register for traffic safety school, pay $147..." (C) "for all ages, to plead not guilty and request court hearing..." I want to "plead no contest" and pay a fine. I do not want to go to court, because that would make matters more complicated, and take more time that I do not have. What option should I choose?

Only one thing matters: DO NO PLEAD GUILTY. Plead not guilty and go to trial. A finding of guilty or not guilty has no effect on any civil case against you, whereas a guilty plea is an admission of fault in the civil case. Report it to your insurer ASAP and you're fine.

I agree, make the time to go to court and plead not guilty and have a trial. You can get a lawyer to help you with this and it is advisable,e under the circumstances
