Child Support and Welfare

Hi there! I've been doing research from this Child's Up website. I have DCSS in a couple days and based on the on-line calculator, it looks like I'll have to pay BD $50/month in support based on imputed income (I just had another baby and I'm on welfare a.t.m.). Since BD has over 55% custody of our son and no income (SSI only) and I'm on welfare... will my welfare benefits get cut since I'm not primary parent AND will most likely be ordered to pay him support? All websites say the moms usually get the support while on welfare (the difference, that is). So how does it work if mom pays dad support while collection welfare for the shared child? I'm also getting benefits for my second child, different father.

Just as long as you tell them about all sources of income you should be fine.

Your fact pattern is a bit unclear, but from what I understand, you are on cash-aid. You should not be imputed wages if you are on cash-aid. His SSI is also not counted as income. This might be a situation of $0 to $0, but you won't know for sure until you get to the hearing. Whether your cash-aid amount will change is a question for the case worker, who has knowledge of your application and the grounds you used to qualify for the aid. Good luck!
