How to get a court date in Coweta county for legitimation petition.

I filed a legitimation petition for my 8 week old daughter. Her mother and I are together and plan on getting married. The issue was that she was still married less than 10 months before our daughter was born. In Coweta County, how long does it take to get a court date and is there anything else I need to do before I can get on the calendar to appear in court? I heard about having to take parenting classes but don't know if it's required or not. I just want to know how to push the petition through to get a court date as soon as possible.

Coweta County has very special requirements that must be satisfied prior to appearing on a calendar. If you are together, you might want to consider hiring an attorney to prepare the final consent order on the petition for legitimation and filing a motion for judgment on the pleadings so that you do not have to appear for a final hearing. The parenting class will be required in Coweta prior to entry of the final order.

Since your marriage would legitimate the child, sit down with a lawyer and determine whether you have even done the right thing. You might simply need to marry and file a petition to amend the birth certificate. Do not keep trying to do this without counsel.
