Restraining orders/protective orders

Domestic Violence 7 views 1 answers
My boyfriend has a ex who he owns a business with. She calls, emails, texts him harassing statements about me & threatens their company. She has started to do the same directly to me via phone & text. Yet, she's threatening me with a restraining order when Shes the one contacting me. My question is what grounds does one need to put a retraining order/protective order on anyone? I've thought about putting on one her to stop the calls.

Call the police and make reports every time something happens. Indiana has stalking and harassment statutes. If the police think what she's doing qualifies, you should be able to press charges and get a protective order. You otherwise don't likely meet the requirements for a civil protective order. Likewise, she doesn't seem to have standing to acquire one against you. Just start making a paper trail, save all messages and texts, and document the whole process. The more you show cops how much she's doing wrong, more than just telling them, the more likely you'll get the protection you seek.
