What happens if you don't sumbit an Illinois motorist report within the allotted time?

I was in a minor accident and I was filling out the Illinois Motorist Report when I noticed it said to complete and sumbit it within 10 days. Today is the 10th day and I'm supposed to mail it, so it probably won't get there today. Is that a problem? An if it is, what does that mean for me?

The statute requires you to do this within 10 days, but you should be okay if you move quickly and mail it in.
The entire purpose of this is so they can monitor who is insured in auto collision cases, as it is required that you are insured if you operate a motor vehicle. Failing to be insured or to respond to the Illinois Motorist Report can result in your driver's license being suspended by the Secretary of State.
Most people fail to do this right away, but your license should be fine as long as you do not sit on it too long. Don't let 30 days expire, or they might begin the process.
Listen to the advice given by Mr. Hoffman. Put that Illinois Motorist Report into the mail. Before you do it, make sure to make a copy for your records.
You should be fine if it is a little late (Illinois isn't exactly operating at a high rate of "efficiency" right now). You can also complete the form online. https://motoristreport.illinois.gov/Content/help/OnlineMotoristHelp.pdf.
Good luck!
