Will my Texas drivers license still be valid if Oklahoma revokes it for a DUI?

Business 6 views 1 answers
Received a DUI in March while in Oklahoma. Went to court and got a deferred sentence for 3 months, but refused the states test so I received a letter saying my license was revoked. Currently I have made it through the deferred sentence and the TxDPS website is stating that my license is eligible and valid. I have also pulled my 3 year DMV record and it shows nothing. Curious why this is and if I'm missing something?

I am not a Texas lawyer but I believe the answer to this question is universal. One state does not have the authority to revoke a license issued to you by another state, so Oklahoma cannot suspend your Texas license. All Oklahoma can do is refuse to recognize / honor your Texas license. Said another way, Oklahoma can refuse to allow you to drive in Oklahoma. What I suspect happened is Oklahoma revoked your privilege to drive in Oklahoma and notified you of that suspension / revocation. Information relating to the suspension / revocation in Oklahoma may or may not be transmitted to Texas, who may or may not then take some action against your actual license. This is a question that would be answered by Texas law. I believe your Texas license remains valid unless and until Texas takes some action against you to suspend / revoke / restrict your license. T.
