How much longer will my divorce take if I filed in August of 2013, but my wife is not agreeing? What else can I do?

I have agreed to pay for whatever child support she asks for. Currently, she is getting what she could for more kids than we have, & we only had one. I pay for day care and my child's food & anything else relating to my child. Yet somehow my wife keeps fighting for more. Granted she only has a HS degree and has never worked in her life because I financially supported her, but she is still young (24) and can go back to school or find a job. She is not being left alone, as she lives with her parents & gets help from them. I don't know what else to do and would like for this process to finalize already.

One way to handle this would be file an RFO to bifurcate status only. This way you may be able to get your divorce out of the way first. Then, if she chooses to continue to take you to court over support issues, you can litigate that separately. Another thing you may want to consider is asking the court to impute income to her since it appears she is consistently receiving help and support from her parents.

This is a common concern for many parties in a dissolution case - that it takes to long. There are ways to expedite your divorce, such as filing for a Trial Setting Conference. Another option would be to enter into a Stipulated Judgment that would be file with the Court, and between 2 to 3 months (depending on the Courthouse filed) should be returned terminating your divorce. But it seems like you may have other issues to deal with - for example, child custody, visitation, and perhaps a more definite and proper child support order. You may contact our firm to discuss the matter more in detail, and we'd be happy to give you additional insight.

You left out spousal support. That's likely an issue. No one can tell you what a court m ay order on that issue, as you don't say how long the marriage was. What is her side of this story? You can suss that out and deal with it, or set this for trial. The latter works in getting to a judgment for division of marital property, but not much else. If she remains disgruntled, there will be more court in your future.
