im wanting to start a llc business in florida. For example one part of the business will be Custom Apparel. The other part of the business will be design services such as signs, banners, decals and other memorabilia and advertising products. My question is if i have lets say Koops Global LLC as the parent company can I make Koops Apparel and Koops Design services divisions of Koops Global LLC. If so would they be under the liability protection of Koops Global And would the taxes City State ANd Federal be one or would they be separate. I would like to be able to advertise a name that is specific to what that part of the company is do is the reason for the divisions. no is going to go to Koops Apparel for signs ect...

First of all, you are going to need to consult with a Florida licensed attorney. I don't know if you are located in TN or not, but if so then there are FL licensed lawyers practicing in TN but you'll need to locate one for assistance. Secondly, you are going to be well-advised to meet with a business attorney in person to discuss the issues you are raising - as well as many others that you probably should be thinking about and may not even realize that fact - to get the best possible advice. This forum is good for giving you a general idea of where to start. It does NOT however substitute for specific legal advice and that is precisely what you are going to need. Developing a relationship with a business attorney from the outset will likely be well worth the expense because a competent attorney will help you with making important tax and business organization decisions that could have a major impact on you and your business for decades to come. I would not rely on free internet advice - nor would I rely on internet legal services in general - for something as major as structuring a business and making important (and possibly irreversible) tax decisions. Some of the costs of legal services are tax deductible for the business and that should help with covering the expense of starting things off right by investing in a hopefully long-lasting relationship with an attorney to help guide you on the way to getting your business off the ground. You can use the "find a lawyer" tab to locate and consult with an appropriate attorney.
