How can someone be incarcerated on 3 different offenses and 2 of them have the same case# but different dates?

A friend of mine was charged and convicted on 3 different criminal cases in Texas. The thing is that on 2 of the charges it has the same case# but different dates. How can that be? The charges were exactly the same which was del of c/s 4-200 g. enhan. I am just wondering why they would not have different case #'s if it is 2 separate charges.

Some counties put multiple counts in one indictment rather than filing them as separate cases.

An attorney would actually have to see what it is you are talking about in order to comment. It is probably three separate incidents.

Some jurisdictions file one charge per case number. Some file multiple separate charges as individual counts under one case number.
