Lost US passport when I have filed for green card for my husband in India.

The papers were mailed to USCIS in July first week and is currently under processing. The last thing I remember is taking copies of passport pages at Fedex before mailing. Do you thing calling up USCIS and verifying whether my passport is there will be wise? Can you please advice what needs to be done? Will reporting the passport loss affect the filing?

I am sorry to hear that you lost your passport. You will need to apply for a new replacement passport. Also note that the missing passport will not have any effect on the filing of your petition with USCIS.

if you believe you sent it with other documents to CIS, then write and make a request to return it, also you might check with the fedex office where you made the copies to see if you left it in the copier. finally, if it does not turn up, file for replacement. reporting it lost will not affect any filings with the CIS for now.

It should not have an effect on the filing. You should file for a replacement passport.
