I received a speeding ticket in a school zone going 34 Mph. I am to appear in court on Friday and was told that the best thing to do would be to ask the State attorney for Court supervision and they will deny my request, but will give me other options such as charging me with a reckless driving ticket so that I pay a higher fee, but do not get pinned with a school zone violation going on my driving record and license suspension. This is my first ticket. I was curious if this is the right approach to the situation.
In my experience, it's rare for the State to amend tickets when negotiating with pro se defendants (defendants without attorneys), but you can always try. Your best bet is to hire an experienced attorney to try to negotiate the ticket on your behalf. Best of luck to you.
You can try. Most of them will not do it. You will not get suspended for a school speeding zone ticket. A suspension happens when you are convicted of passing a stopped school bus.
