TPS to Green Card ?

Good Afternoon, I heard from a syrian friend who lives in Michigan that her immigration lawyer said TPS can be changed to a green card. This depends on the state as its allowed in Michigan, but not Illinois for example. the immigration lawyer said it would cost about $3000 per person. I am currently on TPS and currently lives in GA, but got my TPS when I was in Massachusetts. Please help me if you have any information regarding that. I truly appreciate your help and any information would help.

First, immigration law applies to the whole country and it is not different from US State to State. Secondly, TPS is a form of status that does not lead in itself to permanent residency. Someone with TPS status will not be deported while in TPS status, will not be detailed by ICE, and can work with an EAD. This does not mean the person could not secure LPR status through another means but it will not be based solely on the TPS status. Great question.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) does not lead to a green card. It does not matter what state you are in. A person who has been granted TPS cannot apply for green card on basis of TPS. To be granted any other immigration benefit or apply for green card, you must still meet all the eligibility requirements for that particular benefit.
