it is possible to apply for a change of status from B to E, either as a trader or an investor. for E-2 as an investor there are certain criteria and tests that must be met by the investor and the enterprise to qualify. you will need a consultation with an experienced attorney for your specific situation. invest in one.

If you are a citizen of a country that is a party to a bilateral investment treaty with the US, it is possible to seek E-2 status based on a "substantial investment" in a business. Consult with an immigration attorney for details.

There is no direct path to residency from a B1/B2 visa or and E1/E2 visa to a green card. And E1/E2 visa is only good for two years although it can been renewed indefinitely. The first question regarding and E1/E2 visa is knowing what country you are from. The USA has to have a treaty with your country in order for you to apply for an E1/E2 visa.

As Mr. Segal mentioned, none of those classifications will allow you to apply for a green card without more. Your eligibility for a green card will depend on if you are applying through a relative, your employer, or if you are applying for yourself. You can always seek advice from an immigration attorney, or you may want to try to add additional facts to your question.

If you qualify for a green card, you may apply under that category even if you are currently a B1/B2 or E1/E2 visa holder. The application process would depend on which type of green card you are applying for (e.g. family based or employment based). To plan your immigration future wisely, I highly recommend that you speak with an immigration attorney

You will not be able to immigrate merely by virtue of having one of the visas you mentioned. You may be able to immigrate through the EB-5 program, but a considerable investment is required. If you cannot meet the capital requirement for EB-5, you may qualify for an E2 nonimmigrant visa if you are from a treaty country. It will be worth sitting down and speaking with an immigration lawyer for more information.
