had to call the police about the people below us twice, once because the guy tried to kick in our door. They have since moved out and now there is no heat on in the unit below us and our floors are at around 35 degrees. The people above us have a dog that LITERALLY barks constantly. I brought the people above and below us up to the property manager and he said he would attend to it, but he never did. I want out of this place. It has reviews of how terrible it is. I know because of the intrusion we are able to terminate our lease; however, my roommate wants to stay and I don't. Is there a way for me to terminate my part and not screw him over? We tried to find a sublessor, but nothing yet. I have to get out of this place, it is so terrible. I'm leaving no matter.

Get back onto the site and use the "find a lawyer" tab to find a landlord tenant lawyer in the Chicago area to assist you! Do not do anything further until you've spoken to a lawyer. There is some provision for fee shifting in these cases, so, if you do have a valid and meritorious case that a lawyer will handle, you will not have to pay a lawyer out of pocket.
