How to make the CO Dept. of Rev. print on business tax forms how they calculate late payment filing on sales tax collected.

Currently they do not provide any information on how this is done. They sent me a bill for $1200 in Jan. 2014 in late fees with no explanation. That seemed excessive, so I questioned the amount. I kept getting passed around to different departments. This summer someone finally gave me the formula for how fines are calculated. It turned out I owed $320, which I paid, and they admitted overcharging me $680. That still left $200 on the bill, which I was told a few months ago that managers have the right to add extra fines. I told them to take me to court over the extra amount, and I have not heard from them since. Nor will the last person I talked to respond to any of my emails. I want businesses to have this information before taxes are filed just like the city of Denver does.

The way to establish this type of requirement is to talk to the Governor's office or your state representative or senator. These are the people with the power to make such a mandate.

That's a political matter, not a concrete legal matter. It's best taken up with your legislators.
