Applying for a Green Card through marriage ? please help

Immigration 5 views 4 answers
I know this may sound too much, but please answer my questions as possible. How long does the process take ? The total cost of expenses including hiring a lawyer? Do it all have to be paid at once? I am planning to send my application right after I get married. What documents needed to prove the validity of my marriage? Thanks

USCIS is like bad weather, hard to predict. I would say you should have your work authorization card and travel document within 90 days or so, and the green card from 5 months to a year, or so. We cannot discuss legal fees here. USCIS fees will run you up to $1500 + travel document. Contact an immigration attorney to discuss in private what documents you will need and how you could obtain a copy of your birth certificate.

1. Depends on the immigration status of the spouse and the jurisdiction in which you live. Various USCIS offices have different timelines depending on their case load. Usually it should take around 6 months when properly done. I assumed, of course, that your spouse is a USC. 2. Lawyers are people They charge different fees. The best way to deal with the fees is to select a lawyer and give him or her a call to find out about the fees. 3. This answer is very intuitive. Whatever it would take for you to come to a conclusion that the marriage is bonafide will probably be needed for the interviewing officer as well. Talk to an immigration attorney about these matters.

You should contact attorneys and inquired individually about fees for legal services. Some attorneys offer payment plans. The process typically takes approximately 5 to 6 months from the time of filing to the interview at USCIS. Best wishes to you.

1. Generally six months to a year 2. Filing fees are about $1500. Attorney fees are assessed by the individual attorney and you will need to contact the attorney directly. 3. All documents to show that there was an actual marriage and that the marriage is bona fide
