How long after PTI do i get expungment done?

Simple questions very complicated answers. You can file for expungement (think about using an attorney experienced in this procedure) 6 months after the dismissal of the charge through PTI. You can get an Order in about 10 weeks, give or take, but the State Police are about 14 weeks backlogged so the entries will be on the computer for a while. All NJ official records and computer entries can be expunged. There are numerous data systems to erase so again use an attorney. Most normal background checks will not find the records. But the Order does not include private sites so if the information is in the Web somewhere it still remains. The expungement does not work against law enforcement or the courts for employment and since 9/11 I have found the government finds everything. It does not work with the INS. It was normal for the FBI to pull its records if asked, since 9/11 they do not do this normally anymore. So your prints could stay in their system but taken out of NJ’s. But expungement does work for most private employment.
