I had registered in selective service long back in F1. I just got my green card and I updated the address only now.

I just got my GC through my marriage like three day ago. I am 25 years and 7 months old. I logged on to the selective service website to register.When I filled the information and hit submit, I got an information saying already registered in December 2011. I guess I might have registered when I was a F1 student. So I just updated my new address in the change of address form and submitted. Now my question is I had not updated selective service system since December 2011. But I realize that registering for selective service is not required in student visa. Do I have to take any additional steps now to ensure safe entry at POE as a green card holder.

You can only register once. If you are registered you should not have any problems. Keep record of your registration.

My colleague is correct. You only need to register once. Go ahead and check their system online to verify that you're in the database.

The Selective Service requires a one time registration at the appropriate age range and does not require any updates on your part.
