Any hopes for early release for federal inmates with fraud ( white collar) charges? 2 points reduction , changes in the federal guidelines system....anything? People keep talking about it, but is there any actual action taken ?

Sure there's hope for an early release. Depends on the total length of the sentence and your performance in prison.

The two point reductions are about drug crimes, not fraud crimes. Any possibility of "early" release would be about maybe drug/alcohol treatment programs, which the lawyer should have brought up at sentencing. Best wishes.

Ms. Wirsching is correct - the 2 point reduction applies to drug crimes. Your attorney can explain this better to you. Good luck.

Possibly. However, the 2 point reduction is only for drug crimes, and probably does not affect your case. Depending on how much time you were given, coupled with other facts, early release might be possible.

If the defendant qualifies for the RDAP drug treatment program and completes it successfully, he can get some time off his sentence. He is entitled to 54 days a year of good time. Other than that, no. There have been no changes in the guidelines, good time, or sentencing scheme that will benefit fraud defendants.
