I took my dads truck when he was sleeping and i was stopped for no reason and when the cop ran the info the insurance came back lapsed but the insurance card was still valid. I could not know that the insurance lapsed and i did due diligence as a driver of another persons vehicle and all info looked up to date! I went to city court and told the judge and she only fined me 100$ plus a NYS surcharge and i thought all was done until 1 year later i got pulled over and the cop said my license was revoked by the DMV and they NEVER sent me a certified letter telling me my license was revoked and i owed 750$ civil fee! Messed up! How can the DMV get away with that when i was taken care in court! They still to this day have never sent me a letter! I have been in S Carolina and got back to NY!

If you plead guilty to 319.1, Operating Without Insurance, it results in a mandatory 1 year revocation of your license and $750 Civil Penalty.

It is a collateral consequence of your plea. I assume you didn't have a lawyer. Had you gotten a letter from the insurance company the ticket might have gotten dismissed.

License revocation is mandatory if you plea guilty to no insurance. If you had an attorney, they would've known that and been able to get you a much better deal. Treat this as a learning experience.
