Can My Mom Or Dad Take My Green Card Away From And Have Me Deported Back To My Country??

Business 5 views 2 answers
I moved out of my dad house once I turned 18..I moved out because my dad and I always fight and we argue..so you could say I was a bad kid with him. Now my mom which I don't know nothing about has contact me asking me to pay her all the money she pay for my green card or else she would take my green card away from me and have me deported. Now I don't have all that money she needs because my job only helps me pay for my rent, food, and other bills..I really need help on this and what can I do so my dad and mom can't do nothing to me or my legal status? And I also been living in the U.S. For 9 years.

I empathize with you concerning what you are going through. Your story is very familiar. As regard your question, even though your parent filed for you and you obtained a Green card through that filing, they neither possess the right, power or authority to take your Green Card from you. Only the the U.S. government, the issuing authority (DHS) can revoke an Alien's Green Card or deport. Secondly, your mom can't make you pay back the expenses incurred in getting your green card unles: you were at least 18 years and your entered into mutual contract with your mother to repay her back and you later breached the contract. If this is not the case, then you do not owe her. Lastly, you mentioned that you have been living in the U.S. for 9 years, if you have been a Green Card holder for at least 5 years of those 9 years, you may be eligible to file for citizenship. Once you become a citizen, your parents will not be able to even forcibly send you back to your home country. An attempt to do that, the U. S. government will charge your parents for kidnapping a USC. A USC is completely free from deportation.

Your mother has absolutely no right to make you pay her for your green card, and your parents cannot take away your status. Their threats are empty, they cannot do anything about your status.
