If you have a Department of Revenue case, an attorney will be assigned - because the DOR is a party to the lawsuit. If you are filing your own case that involves child support (divorce, paternity), a lawyer is not assigned to help you.

If you are simply seeking child support, the DOR is the place to start. If you are talking about "custody" and "time sharing" (as I saw you mention in a reply) you will have to file a Petition to Determine Paternity action which will encompass the parental responsibility, timesharing, and child support. If you are looking for a "free" attorney for that sort of case, you should contact the Legal Aid office - but it is becoming more and more difficult for them to take cases due to their limited resources.
No. . Public Defenders only get involved in criminal cases. Please click on the following link for the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. They may be able to help you.
