You should return yourself on that warrant as soon as you are able. The arrest warrant will not go away until you return to court.

You need to return to NY to address the warrant. If you have no prior criminal history, it is possible for a NY attorney to go with you to court and get the charge dismissed.

The warrant is not going to magically disappear. You have to take care of this ASAP because the next officers who stop you may not be as nice and may put you in jail. You have two options, return to the court where you were originally supposed to go, and voluntarily turn yourself in on the warrant. You can hire an attorney to try and take care of this for you without you coming back to NY but some judges and/or clerks will not vacate the warrant without you being present. Most judges will allow you to perform the community service in your current state and have the attorney bring back proof to the judge.

Hire a good criminal defense lawyer to deal with it.
