My mother was the victim in a shooting which she suffered two gun shot wounds we are currently fighting this case due to the suspect taking it to trail we have lots of evidence to help just want to be sure that the suspect does time in jail please help looking for a lawyer

A victim can hire a lawyer to assist them in understanding a case and communicating with the state. However, this is very uncommon. The state prosecutor handles the case for free basically as far as your concerned. Stay in good contact with the prosecutor and make sure your sentencing wishes are well known. Prosecutor doesnt have to follow want you want, but you can give input.

The prosecutor is the person who tries to put someone in jail. They are not your lawyer but would be working on your behalf. If the person has any money you could hire a civil attorney and try to collect damages.
