Petitioner mentioned the I-140 was approved, while online status shows as pending. Is it possible to have 2 different updates?

My I-140/I-485 was filed concurrently in June 2014. Since it was pending for a long time, last week I requested my employer to make an inquiry. They replied to me telling it was pending, and then later the next day said that the I-140 was approved. However, I checked the online case status and it still shows as "Case was Received" with an inquiry just made yesterday. Does employers/lawyers get any other notifications regarding an approval/denial/RFE of I-140? I am confused why one would say that its approved when my online status shows as "pending"? Could someone please advice? Note: Petitioner would not provide me with any notices/receipt for I-140, and hence don't have any additional information on my application status.

It is possible for the I-140 to be approved and the employer to receive an approval notice in the mail, while the USCIS fails to update its online case status page to reflect the approval.
